THE STYLIST VIEWPOINT

STYLE 106

The minimal silhouette of this shift dress will appeal to those with an appreciation of understated style. Often underrated, garments of such starkness can be viewed as bland, however with a considered approach they are powerful in their minimalism and provide a blank canvas to adorn and personalise.

A case in point, this ivory dress is stunning in it’s simplify and allows for interesting accessories to create the mood and feel. This is a sophisticated look - chic and uncomplicated - with the pearls and veiled headband providing the bridal touches.

I have kept the shoes classic in keeping with the overall tone. The length and shape of the dress suits shoes instead of sandals - mid heel, kitten or flat would all work.

Headbands are modern and popular but can be replaced with a simple ivory ribbon fashioned as a headband trailing down the back for a perfect alternative to a veil.

Avoid patterned or lace undergarments with styles and fabrics such as this to ensure a smooth silhouette across the front. Perfectly fitting underwear is essential - shapewear is ideal if needed but if not a well fitting thong with a pretty slip worn on top will avoid unwanted lines.

Wear for registry ceremonies or pre wedding dinners.
