THE STYLIST VIEWPOINT
STYLE 1112
When a grand venue demands, or the desire arises, to wear a bridal gown which looks and feels more fashion and editorial than the average wedding dress, brides in the know head straight to Giambattista Valli. He creates the most sumptuous, stop you in your tracks dresses for each of his collections - RTW, Couture and his Bridal line. When styling bridal I am often drawn to his fashion items rather than the bridal collection which I find are equally as event worthy for vows and parties.
This dress is a case in point. Voluminous shape constructed from layers of tulle and tiers of delicate ruffles. A fashion version of the princess wedding gown - it has it all going on.
The wide neckline needs a strapless bra and the bustier silhouette of this Eres version provides extra shaping and stability. Fabrics of an ivory / cream tone work well with warm metallics so I have selected to pair it with a pretty, low heel shoe in pale gold - a little more interesting than a matching colour peeping out from under the dress. Finish with notable earrings and striking headwear for a fashion statement or simple pearls and classic veil for a purist approach.
