THE STYLIST VIEWPOINT

STYLE 1032

I love this dress for it’s elegance and flexibility. Worn barefoot for a beach ceremony, with flat sandals for a pre wedding lunch or dressed up for intimate services and celebrations. The style is uncomplicated, flattering and easy to wear and clever styling makes it fit to whatever it needs to be.

The addition of a masculine cut jacket offsets the very feminine pleated skirt, creating balance and a contemporary silhouette. No need to overload on bling - pretty statement earrings are more than enough for this look. The bodice of the dress provides support hence no bra is needed - however take heed of fit in this area to make the most of this dress.

The skirt is loose enough to allow for any briefs - no shapewear required - so it’s a good dress for those who want to wear special underwear without worrying about visible lines. I have opted to include the ‘something blue’ in the choice of briefs - symbolic and traditional but also enticing. Ribbon, fresh flowers, jewelled hair clips, all would work here, and for ceremonies add formality with embellished headbands or a micro veil.

Ivory shoes would blend seamlessly to this outfit but I felt a pale gold with a subtle touch of glitter added an element of interest and fashionable flair.
