THE STYLIST VIEWPOINT
STYLE 1037
A classic white suit is always a winner for brides who want to avoid the dress but still desire to exude bridal flair. Like dresses, suits come in all shapes and iterations and personal style will dictate which works best for you. The important thing to bear in mind is to buy the best quality version you can. Not only will it be a hard working, longer lasting staple in your wardrobe after the wedding, but quality fabrics are key to how the suit will look, sit on the body and move.
This suit is a good wedding choice with plenty of feminine touches to make the bride feel elegant and stylish. The fitted waist brings flattering shaping and the pleated cuff detail is lovely - perfectly balancing the masculinity of the trousers. For ladylike brides add lace or embellished shoes, or if that is not your thing, opt for tonal classic pumps or sling backs.
In some cases too much going on around the face can be distracting so I tend to select either bold statement earrings or an intricate headpiece - rarely both - and in this instance I have chosen jewellery in keeping with the pared back approach of the styling. Switch the earrings for smaller ones and add a few flowers for prettiness or be bold and create a statement fresh flower headpiece in the manner of Chanel and Dolce et Gabbana for an on trend wedding style.
NOTE Wool and wool blends are usually reliable suiting fabrics. In addition to quality, fit is vital so ensure the trouser and jacket sleeve lengths are exact and the shoulders are neat and perfectly positioned. Avoid at all cost a suit which is even a little too small. Shape wear is always applicable with trousers if help with smooth lines is required. Not sexy but often the best choice. If needed look to Skims, Wolford, Spanx and LaPerla.
